Geelong coach Chris Scott admits his playing group are “on edge” ahead of their round 24 clash against the West Coast Eagles.
It’s being viewed as a must-win for the Cats, who are keen to lock in a top four finish and nab a double chance for September.
But in true Scott fashion, he wouldn’t have it any other way.

As the Cats prepare to host West Coast at GMHBA Stadium, they’re also gearing up to farewell club champions Tom Hawkins and Zach Tuohy, who will hang up the boots at the end of their finals campaign.
But the Cats know not to take the Eagles lightly, especially on the eve of a tight finals campaign.

“We are on edge, and there is some nervous excitement, but that’s when the good stuff happens,” Scott said on Friday.
While the Cats had chances to lock in a top four finish before the final home-and-away round, they couldn’t overcome St Kilda in round 23.
But Scott says it makes the challenge even more exciting for his group.
“The alternative is you could play it a little bit safer and not be in this position, but that’s no way to live a life,” he said.

“It’s a pressure we should embrace.
“The carrot for us is obvious in terms of what the game means. I think it’s a mistake to shy away from the things that are at stake.”
Scott also declared that Hawkins and Tuohy’s impending retirements, as well as Zach Guthrie’s 100th game and Rhys Stankley 150th game in the blue and white hoops, will give them even more to play for.

“The little individual parts (retirements and milestones) that go with it, add to it,” he said.
But Scott is most looking forward to seeing an up-and-coming star, Eagles youngster Harley Reid, in action.
“I’ve got a bit of a bias towards the types of players like Harley,” Scott said.

“I can’t wait to see what he does against other teams for the next few years.
“He’s going to be good fun to watch, that’s for sure.”
The Cats need a win to lock in a double chance on Saturday.
